Not being able to get out of bed Monday morning, and Greg begging me to go see a doctor led me to the ER Monday afternoon. My first stop was urgent care; not so urgent, I was there for two hours for them to tell me that I needed to go to the ER.
I arrived at the ER and got weird looks as I told them that I went over my handlebars...uh, occupation? Yeah, I work at a bike shop. Greg came by the hospital to keep me from dying of boredom and starvation. He made the six hour wait go by quickly. During my long wait I am given a pregnancy test, blood work (couldn't get an IV started with my tiny veins), but no pain meds.
So, I finally make it into my room and the nurse attempts to start an IV. After a few pokes and wiggles, a nice and painful IV is in my hand, followed by some even nicer morphine. Now that I'm drugged, they ask for another pregnancy test. Maybe they thought Greg and I had some sexy time while waiting for a room?

During my three hour wait for my CT scan, I was heavily medicated and was expected to fall right to sleep. But have you ever hung out with Greg while high? He is the best. He pulled out the camera and kept me entertained all night long. You have to love a guy that makes a bad situation fun and humorous.

So, hours later after peeing in a cup again...no one came by to get my pee! So Greg and I had fun with my urine. He took shots, then I took shots. Then we threw my urine cup at the nurses because they were being mean to us. Okay, we didn't do that stuff...but we talked about it.

By 2:30, we got the news we wanted to hear...we could go home. I only had internal bruising, a possible cracked rib that was causing major swelling and some damaged cartilage. I can be back on the bike in a couple of weeks...if I'm feeling healed up by then.

Greg was awesome. He had me smiling and kept my spirits up. I couldn't ask for a better friend or partner.

Maybe the first PG test was a false positive??? Or they were just hopeful that you got lucky in the ER. HAHAH
